      Hi Rhiana,
The biggest volcano in the world is called Mauna Loa. It is on Hawaii and it has recently shown signs that it might become active again shortly in the future.

Last year, some scientists discovered a huge volcano in the bottom of the Pacific Ocean called the Tamu Massif. This is a large area of lava flows that were erupted over several million years under the sea floor. It’s not like a single volcano like Mauna Loa, so you could argue that it doesn’t count!

The largest volcano in the Solar System is Olympus Mons on Mars. This picture compares the sizes of all three volcanoes – you can see how big Olympus Mons is compared to all the others!
