      Hi kfcz247,
      I don’t invent things as part of my science. So I haven’t invented anything cool like iPads or rockets.

      I do design and build experiments though. When I worked in Hawaii I helped design and build boxes that we could leave out on the volcano to sniff the air for volcanic gas. This summer I am building myself an experiment so I can recreate volcanic flows in the lab. I’m going to be trying to make volcanic mudflows, called lahars, so I can try and understand how they flow. If I can work this out, then hopefully this will help the people who live near volcanoes where lahars are happening all the time. Lahars can be deadly – they are like fast moving flows of concrete,
