Part of my job is to teach the university students here – I teach them things like how the Earth works and about volcanoes. I also visit schools to talk to students like you. On Monday I have some local school children visiting and we’re going to make a volcano!
I am always learning new things though, but I find things out for myself more than sit in a classroom and get told about things. I talk to other scientists, read what they have written and do my own experiments to try and learn new things.
Although I’m not studying for any exams, being a scientist is a bit like going to school forever! Every day I read about new science and I learn new things.
Apart from that, I do sort of still go to school as in my spare time I go to a class to learn how to decorate cakes. It’s really fun and I get to make flowers out of sugar 🙂
I’m still a PhD student so I could argue that I’m technically still at school. I’m always learning loads of new things and I have to spend loads of time sitting listening to people talk at me. 😉
I’m learning new things everyday, but on top of that I get to research things that I am interested in. I also help to teach university students aswell.
If I could I would go back to school, as at the time I didn’t enjoy it so much all the time, but looking back it was great! So make the most of school, you will learn so much both from your teachers and your friends!
