• Question: Why lava is red? Can it be other colours?

      Hi Edward,
      lava is red because it is hot. When things are hot they glow red- think about fire or light bulbs. Lava is normally red, but recently a volcano in Indonesia erupted blue lava! Look at thr pictures here: http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/4610337
