      Hi gabriela,
Volcanoes are made of igneous rocks – these are rocks that were once molten or liquid and very hot and they have cooled down into rock. Molten rock is called magma. Magma is made up of molten rock, gas and crystals. As the magma cools down, more and more crystals grown until the rock is completely solid.
Lava is the same as magma, but it has been erupted onto the surface of the earth.
Magma is made up of lots of different chemical elements. It is mostly made up of silica, iron, magnesium, aluminium, sodium, potassium, oxygen, and calcium. Each volcano will have these in different proportions. Volcanoes with lots of silica are the most explosive. Volcanoes with not much silica but more iron and magnesium are the least explosive (like Hawaii).
