Well what I’m working on actually involves a range of sciences. I need to use techniques from chemistry to analyse the plants to see what they are producing which might be helping the bacteria. I also need to understand how the human interacts with the bacteria so I could suggest how changes to the bacteria might affect its ability to cause disease. There’s also a fair amount of genetics and biochemistry. Physics also plays a role too!

That’s one of the great things about working in biology. You have all three of the sciences involved and can use them to better understand what you’re doing. I know some biologists who are actually computer programmers and others that are physicists.
