      Hi Edward,
      Yes, there are lots and lots of volcanoes under the sea! Probably more than there are on land. This map shows the location of all the volcanoes under the sea that have been mapped:

      Most of these volcanoes don’t erupt explosively because they are under deep water. If they manage to grow enough so they get close to the surface of the water, they can erupt explosively. In 1963, a new volcano grew under the sea near Iceland, its called Surtsey. This is what it looked like when it erupted:

      Yes, sadly, sometimes animals also get killed when volcanoes erupt.
